Hy-Vee Products: 5 Current Favorites

As a Hy-Vee dietitian, I’m surrounded by aisles of food each day. I definitely have my “go-to” products that I stock up on. However, I often forget to share some of my favorites with you all. So I thought I would take this opportunity to start talking about my favorites more frequently on the blog. If you are in a food rut (I’ve been there), hopefully this will help spark some ideas for your next trip to Hy-Vee. Today I wanted to start with 5 favorites of mine.

Banza Pasta

Every time I give a grocery store tour, I almost always recommend Banza pasta. It received its name because it is made out of garbanzo beans. Get it? Usually when I tell people what it is made of, they are a little skeptical. Pasta made out of beans? What?! Even though I’m not personally a picky eater, I’ve had countless people come back and tell me they think it tastes just like normal pasta. Banza is also cool because it has about 4x the fiber and protein of a regular pasta. This helps make it really filling. If you are looking to switch up your pasta, you should definitely give this a try. You can find it over in the Hy-Vee Health Market.

Gustare Vita Vodka Sauce

While you are stocking up on Banza pasta, you’re going to need a sauce to pair with. Gustare Vita Vodka Pasta Sauce is currently my favorite. I always have a jar in my pantry.  It has such a great flavor. I often counsel clients who are concerned with their blood sugars or blood pressure and this is a sauce I point to. It has no added sugar and is low in sodium, but also doesn’t skimp on taste. There are a variety of flavors but the Vodka Pasta Sauce is my favorite. At my Hy-Vee location (East 10th Street in Sioux Falls), you can find the line of Gustare Vita products in Aisle 2.

Hy-Vee Short Cuts

I’m not gunna lie…sometimes I’m REALLY lazy in the kitchen. I’m sure some of you can relate. Thank goodness for Hy-Vee Short Cuts! I can’t tell you how many times I have picked up the Short Cut diced onions. I’ve never been a fan of tearing up while chopping onions, so Hy-Vee does the work for me. We have a wide variety of Short Cut options. When I’m lacking on vegetables at my lunch, I buy a small container of fresh veggies to complement my meal. As I’m leaving for the evening, I often will also stock up on the Zucchini Veggie Noodles. Recently I made this recipe and it was heavenly.
You can grab these in the produce section.

Kombucha

Have you ever tried Kombucha? I think it can be a bit of an acquired taste for some people. I happen to really like it. Over in the refrigerated section of our Health Market, we have a wide range of brands and flavors. My personal favorites include the Mystic Mango and Strawberry Sensation flavors from GT’s. I like to get a wide variety of probiotics in my foods and drinks so Kombucha is something that I add to my routine once or twice a week.

Way Better Snacks

My friend Kylie recently introduced me to these Way Better chips. YUM! The Avocado Ranch variety tastes like Cool Ranch Doritos. These have sprouted flax, quinoa, and chia seeds and taste more filling to me than Doritos. Today I snacked on the Sweet Chili flavor with some guacamole. It was a satisfying and delicious snack if I do say so myself.

I hope this gave you some new ideas for your next shopping trip! Let me know in the comments below if you would like me to do more posts like this in the future.
