Mason jars have increased in popularity, thanks to the brilliance of Pinterest. I wanted to share some of my favorite mason jar gift ideas to give you some inspiration for a simple holiday gift.
The holiday season is among us and talk of “gift guides” are flooding the internet. A simple Google search of “2018 Gift Guide” will tally in BILLIONS of results. While I love giving and receiving some of my most coveted items for the holidays as much as the next person, nothing really compares to a homemade gift. If you know me, I LOVE homemade gifts. In fact, I would rather receive a heartfelt, handwritten note from someone I love more than a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses. (That’s really saying something for me!)
As I was planning some upcoming classes for my full-time job with Hy-Vee, I decided to host a mason jar themed gift class. The most challenging part of planning this class was narrowing down my ideas to just 5 options. (There are so many cute ideas from creative souls in the world!) While there are hundreds of projects you can do with mason jars, I decided to keep our projects simple.

For the class, we will be making the following:
- Blueberry Pecan Pancake Mix
- Peppermint Body Scrub
- Apple Muffin Mix
- Peppermint Hot Chocolate
- Italian Barley Soup Mix
To give you a sneak peak, here is what the hot chocolate mix consists of:
- 3/4 cup non-fat dry milk powder
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- mini chocolate chips
- crushed candy canes
- mini marshmallows
The beauty of attending the class is that you do not need to purchase random ingredients that you will only use once. (Plus, I do all of the shopping and clean up–and who can complain about that?!) If you are interested in signing up for this workshop, check out the registration on EventBrite or email me at alambrechts@hy-vee.com.
What are your thoughts on homemade gifts? Do you love them as much as I do?
